Obituary for James "Jim" Edward Cole
March 30,1947 – February 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Jim Cole on February 1, 2025, at UF Shands Hospital due to complications from thyroid cancer surgery.
After graduating from Owensboro Ky High School, Jim spent 2 years in Korea defending our freedom. Jim married Debbi his wife of 48 years during the Bi- Centennial in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1976. Currently Jim was a resident of Freeport, Florida and protestant by faith. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. After he retired from his company ownership, he loved boating on The Chesapeake Bay and was an avid golfer. More recently he joined Therapy Patient Connections and Dog-Harmony therapy dog programs to bring joy to others with his dog Logan. Jim and Logan visited Walton County Elementary Schools for the R.E.A.D. program (reading education assistance dogs). Through Dog-Harmony Therapy, Jim and Logan visited HCA Florida Fort-Walton-Destin Hospital. Their weekly visits were to doctors, nurses and patients in the ER, maternity, PTSD wards, and with anyone who needed a little cheer that day. Jim and Debbi are also preservation breeders of Standard Poodles. He was a huge help to Debbi in raising the baby puppies to go to their loving homes.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Hettie Cole plus his two adult children, Brian and Brynn Cole. He is survived by his grandchildren Kaelyn, Hunter, Harper, and Trapper; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny & Sandy Cole, Randy & Annette Cole, and Homer Jr. & Linda Cole along with his loving nieces and nephews. Last but not least, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Debbi Cole. Debbi's family will also miss him dearly as well, especially her mother and father Bob and Peggy Sprecher.
We find comfort in knowing that Jim's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. All my love to my best friend and love of my life!
