Mr. James Richard Dixon, age 83, passed away on, Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born September 3, 1938, in Brewton, Alabama to Richard and Evelyn Holmes Dixon.

Mr. Dixon was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Baptist by faith.  He was a veteran of the armed forces serving his country in the United States Army.  He was a devoted husband. He worked as a Law Enforcement Officer for 30 years, having worked as the Chief of Police in Atmore, Alabama, and for the Escambia County Sheriff's Department.

Mr. Dixon is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Dixon, sister, Judy Hullett and son, James R. Dixon, II.

Mr.  Dixon is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol H. Dixon of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; two brothers, Tommy Dixon and David Dixon and wife Ola Mae all of Brewton, Alabama; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Cluster Springs Baptist Church Cemetery at 1333 County Highway 1084, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433, with Reverend Phil McMillian officiating.
