Obituary

Mr. James Clark Derby II, aged 57, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born on November 22, 1968, in Miami, Florida, he was the son of James Clark Derby Sr. and Agnes May Megahan Derby.

A longtime resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Mr. Derby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He built a career as a truck driver for his girls and was known for his culinary talents, often preparing meals for his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time fishing.

Mr. Derby was preceded in death by his parents, James Clark Derby Sr. and Agnes May Megahan Derby, and his sister, Diane Baaske.

He is survived by his beloved wife of ten years, Kathy Jo Derby; his children, Ashley Derby, Joeny Derby, and Karissa Derby; his stepchild, Sierra King (Zach); and his grandchildren, Jaelyn Sword, Michael Kabaci, Isaac Kabaci, Madison Lynch, Amilia Garrison, Sophia Garrison, Jace Garrison, Jamison Garrison, Aden Hite, Hayilee Hite, Vivi Hite, Atticus King, Dom King, Logan Chinn and Ellie Chinn; special friends, Everett Gainey and his son Austin Gainey; special friend Rebecka Gray; his brother, John Derby (Paula Horton); and his sister, Darlene Goodwin. Mr. Derby is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Derby’s life will be remembered by all who knew him for his dedication to family and his warm and generous spirit.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; with Brother Rick Charello officiating.
