Hilton “Ray” Rushing, born on February 4, 1934, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, faith, and love for family and community.

Throughout his life, Ray demonstrated a strong work ethic and remarkable skill in his chosen profession. He worked as a carpenter for many years and was highly respected for his talent and craftsmanship in carpentry. His hands shaped not only wood but also the lives of those who knew him, always willing to lend his skills to help others.

Ray's commitment to service extended beyond his vocation. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. His devotion to duty and to his fellow servicemen was a defining characteristic of his life, earning the respect of his peers and all who had the privilege to know him.

Faith was a cornerstone of Ray's life. He was Apostolic by faith and a dedicated member of the First Apostolic Church in DeFuniak Springs. His presence within the church community was cherished, and his steadfast belief served as a source of inspiration to those around him. His church family has faithfully cared for him in the last year, feeding and transporting him.

Ray is survived by his brother, Carlton Rushing (Mary).

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Rushing, his son, Ray Rushing, and his daughter, Carla Rushing, as well as Dee Bear Washing Rushing and Claudine Thorn Rushing and his sisters, Bobbie Joyce Emory and Imogene Knight. Ray Rushing’s life was one of steadfast service, faith, and dedication to his family and community. As we remember and honor his many contributions, his memory will remain a guiding light to all who loved him.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Jonathan King and David King officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
