Helen Cotton of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away on July 21, 2026. Known to many as Momma Cotton. A life marked by faith, service & devotion to those she loved.

Born January 20, 1930 in Lincoln, Alabama going to school at Lincoln as well. Employed by Bachman Upbrige in Talladega, Alabama, and Continental Apparel, DeFuniak Springs. She and husband Jim relocated to DeFuniak Springs in 1962 after purchasing Schultz Motel on Hwy. 90 West.

A woman of deep faith and loved her church family, touching many lives with her warmth, humor and wisdom.

She was preceded in death by her father William Lee McBurnett and mother Sara McBurnett; husband Jimmy Lindbergh Cotton; daughter Loretta Jean Mayfield; great grandson Noah Patterson; sister Frances Pettus; and brother Jerry McBurnett.

She is survived by five children: Teresa Bishop, Pete Cotton, Paige Hance (James), Jennifer Cox and Gwendolyn Bowers (Travis). Grandchildren Tonya Lightner (Johnny), Bridgette Dennis (Joel), Justin Cox (Caitlin), Brandi Curry, Ashley Hance, Adam Hance, Taylor Cotton, Jordan Bishop, Chealsea Bishop and Joseph Woods.

Her legacy lives in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

An avid AL fan and loved watching Andy Griffin and the Hallmark Channel.

A time of visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, July 27, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 27, 2026 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Wilbur Wiliams officiating.

Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Baldwin Avenue Baptist Church at 1618 Baldwin Ave, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435

Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.
