Mr. George Joseph Slay, age 73, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. He was born on August 14, 1948 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Walter Melvin Slay and Ethelene Richards Slay.

Mr. Slay was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He worked as a truck driver with Walton County Road Department for over twenty years before retiring. He enjoyed fox hunting and listening to his dogs on a good fox run. He enjoyed traveling and living in the country. He also loved bass fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

Mr. Slay was preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother Carl Slay, his sister Linda Campbell, and two infant sisters.

Mr. Slay is survived by his sisters, Carol Williams of DeFuniak Springs and Clara Smith and husband Junior of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; brother-in-law Dewitt Campbell of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; and his nephews, Tony Slay and wife Troyce, Greg Smith and wife Linda, Quint Smith and wife Joy, Steve Williams, and Chris Campbell.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Magnolia Cemetery; 222 North Park street, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435 with Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.
