Obituary

Mr. Farrel Wayne Simmons, age 66, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1955 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana to Forrest Wayland Simmons and Mary Perkins Simmons.

Mr. Simmons was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was Presbyterian by faith and a member of Glendale Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces, serving our country in the United States Air Force for over six years as a Sergeant. For his service he received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, The Air Force Outstanding Award for his unit, and the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon. He worked as a welder with Regional Utilities for many years. He also spent many years working as a Lineman and well driller. He enjoyed reading the Bible and discussing truths with his family.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his brother Edward Simmons.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lisa Simmons of DeFuniak Springs, FL; six children, Wayland Simmons of Nantucket, MA, Joshua Simmons of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Haley Chaney of DeRidder, LA, Samuel Simmons of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Jesse Simmons of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and Nora Wyant of DeFuniak Springs, FL; two sisters, Beverley Hargrave of DeFuniak Springs, FL and Ann Simmons of CO; and sixteen grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Glendale Presbyterian Church; 9218 Florida 83, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 with Reverend Bill Richoux officiating.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Camp Victory at 363 Victory Circle, Samson, AL 36477.
