Obituary

Evelyn Yvonne Hamon age 77, went to heaven to be with Jesus on Monday, September 22, 2014. She was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, great-grand-mother and a spiritual mother to so many around the world. She was a resident of Walton County for the past 30 years. Evelyn Hamon was born May 11, 1937 in Toppenish, Washington to C. Theodore and Emma Hixson. After marrying her pastor, Wilford "Bishop Bill" Hamon on August 13, 1955 they served as pastors in Toppenish for 5 more years and became a team in both marriage and ministry. For years she faithfully stood by her husband's side as he taught at International Bible College in San Antonio, TX and traveled all over the US in itinerant ministry. He would preach and she would sing. In 1967 she worked with her husband to begin the ministry of Christian International. In 1977 they moved their family and ministry to Phoenix, AZ and later, in 1984 came to Santa Rosa Beach, FL to build a ministry headquarters for Christian International. As the CI Ministry Network of Churches and leaders grew, she became a spiritual "mom", counselor, and confidant to ministers all over the world. People of all ages, from many cultures and places affectionately have come to call her "Mom" Hamon. Her humorous, yet practical teaching style brought encouragement and perspective to all who heard her. She and her husband traveled to over 75 nations preaching the Word of God, training leaders and bringing encouragement to the Body of Christ. "Mom" Hamon was an ordained minister and received an honorary Doctorate of Ministry degree in 1999 and has authored three books: Spiritual Seasons of Life, God's Tests are Positive and Divine Flexibility. "Mom" Hamon was preceded in death by her parents, C. Theodore and Emma Hixson. "Mom" Hamon is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Hamon of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and three sisters, Donna Walters (husband Leon) Marilyn King (husband Douglas) and Sharon Hedman (husband Doyle). She had three children, Dr. Timothy Hamon and his wife Karen, Reverend Thomas Hamon and his wife, Jane, and her daughter Sherilyn Hamon-Miller, all of Santa Rosa Beach, Fl. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ruth Pierce (husband Jason), Sheri Slusher (husband Richard) Crystal Hamon, Tiffany Catalano (husband Jason), Sarah Hamon, Charity Agney (husband Joshua), Joshua Miller (wife Brooke), Jason Hamon (wife Valerie), Timothy Hamon II, Daniel Miller and Joseph Miller. She also had 14 great-grandchildren: Cyrus, Grace, Ian, Ezra, Atreya, Madisyn, Riley, Brielle, Aiden, Serenity, Lucas, Eli, Jason and Joshua Jr. She also had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed!Those who knew her and loved her are welcome to join the family in celebration of her life and home going on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 at Vision Church @ Christian International, 5200 East Highway 98, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.
