Jeannie DeBrohun, age 90, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away August 5, 2025 at Somerby Santa Rosa Beach memory care facility in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Born May 20, 1935 in Cumberland County, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph Lemuel Cline and Willie Maude [Painter] Cline, she grew up in Crossville, Tennessee. Jeannie graduated from Pleasant Hill Academy in 1953 and attended Tennessee Tech University where she met her husband, Leon. They were married on September 4, 1955 and moved to Dayton, Ohio where they raised their four children. Jeannie was an exceptionally talented cook, especially wedding cakes, and seamstress. She was also the best at organizing and hosting the most beautiful parties.
She is survived by her daughters Mercedes DeBrohun of Panama City, Florida and Jennifer [Danny] DeBrohun Scott of Pelham, Alabama; her sons Jarrell DeBrohun of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and Joseph [Diana] DeBrohun of Maryville, Tennessee; her granddaughters Zoe DeBrohun of Denver, Colorado and Elizabeth [Travis] Scott Hinton of Boxborough, Massachusetts; her grandson Nathan [Alexandra] Scott of Birmingham,
Alabama; her great granddaughter Piper Scott of Birmingham, Alabama; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Jeannie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon Jarrell DeBrohun, Sr.; brothers Lee Cline, Rue Cline, Bill Cline, and Bob Cline; and sisters LulaMae Martin, Ruth Pace, and Mary Nell Farris.
Leon and Jeannie DeBrohun will be interred together at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at a later date.
The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice Care and Somerby Santa Rosa Beach for their stellar care of their mother and Seagrove Baptist Church for their loving care of Jeannie.
