It is with profound sadness that the family of David Marshall Schrantz announces his passing at his home on August 1, 2026 at the age of 69.

Dave was born on September 28, 1956 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. His father was in the Army, so Dave experienced living in Europe as a child and frequent moves around the United States. He enjoyed participating in sports, mainly as a baseball pitcher, and playing in the high school stage band as first chair trumpet. He was a young man with many talents.

Dave received his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech University and a master’s in history from the University of Oklahoma. Dave worked as a teacher and coach where he was respected for his strong work ethic and commitment to his students. Outside of work, he found joy in watching the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Oklahoma Sooners. He loved to read Tom Clancy books and watch old movies. He was an avid sports fan. He was most at home on a baseball field with his players, mowing the field, or working on the pitcher’s mound.

Dave was a devoted husband and loving father to his two children. Whether sharing stories about history at the dinner table, offering encouragement, or simply being present, he made those around him feel loved and valued. Over the years he was a caring owner to his dogs Scooter, Spike, Cheyenne, Dixie, and Harley.

After his retirement, Dave enjoyed helping the local high school baseball team and playing trivia every week. Those who knew Dave will remember his humor and wisdom. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the love he shared so freely.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Schrantz, his son Mike Schrantz and wife Emily, his daughter Kendall Schrantz Wynne and husband Jacob, and brother Jeff Schrantz. He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Schrantz and father Marshall Schrantz.

Celebration of his life will occur in multiple locations over the next several months. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
