David P.
Rowe
July 4, 1943 – July 15, 2023
Mr. David P. Rowe, age 80, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023. He was born on July 4, 1943 in Miami, Florida to Perry A. and Dorothy McCleskey Rowe.
Mr. Rowe grew up in Miami, Florida. He was on his high school's gymnastic team and excelled on the rings and tumbling. While in high school, he met Mary E. Price. They later married and shared a life together for 48 years. He and Mary were in a bowling league in Miami and won several championships. Mr. Rowe had a short career as a mechanic at a truck stop. By trade, though, he was a plasterer for 45 years, working from South Florida to California before retiring in 2009. A few years after retiring, he began working for Advanced Auto Parts in DeFuniak Springs and Freeport. Mr. Rowe enjoyed many things in life like offshore fishing in the Florida Keys with family and friends, Ford cars and trucks, motorcycles (his first bike was a Harley Scrambler), drag racing (build two – the first a 1947 Fiat Topolino and the second a 1970 Torino Cobra which he raced locally), working on cars with his son, and camping and RV'ing. Later in life, he found companionship and love with Annette Geffert as they traveled, camped, fished, and rode motorcycles together. They also enjoyed family gatherings as well as quiet days at home with their pet dogs watching television.
Mr. Rowe was preceded in death by his father and mother; and wife Mary E. Price Rowe.
Mr. Rowe is survived by his son Larry D. Rowe and wife Lisa of Ponce de Leon, Florida; daughter Tracy D. Brown of Ponce de Leon, Florida; grandchildren Hillary Williams and husband Shane of Freeport, Florida, Harley L. Rowe and wife Melissa of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; Mary Fleischfresser and husband Mark of Ponce de Leon, Florida; and great-grandchildren Gabrielle Williams, Grace Williams, and Dean Fleischfresser.
A Private Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
