Mr. Daniel "Woody" Durwood Ray, age 82, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022. He was born November 10, 1939 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Murdock and Vesta Butts Ray. Mr. Ray was a resident of DeFuniak Springs and lived in Stockbridge, Georgia and Central, Florida. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the DeFuniak Springs First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He worked as a produce manager as a store manager and as CEO of Reds Market. He also owned and Operated "Woody's Market" in Inverness, Florida. Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra Ray of 45 years.
Mr. Ray is survived by his three daughters; Teresa B. Backhaus, April Lynn Reaves and husband Scott and Karen D. Ray and husband Tim Jones; four brothers; Cecil Ray and wife Beverly, Bernie Ray and wife Judy, Eugene Ray and wife Betty, and Edsel Ray and wife Mandy; two sisters; Oletta Ray and Vanessa Miller and husband Ronnie; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Backhaus, Aubrey Chesnutt, Kenny Backhaus, Tyler Reaves and Danielle Stephens; and eight great grandchildren.
Receiving of Friends will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak, Florida 32435. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with, Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.
