Daniel (Danny) Wilson Campbell was born on March 13, 1948, in Chipley, FL to Estelle Johns Simmons and William (Bill) Campbell. For the first 15 years of his life he was raised in Wausau, FL by his grandmother, Cassie Johns. He then moved to Ponce de Leon, FL and graduated from Ponce de Leon High School in 1967. He is currently a member of Crosspoint Church PDL.
He was a loving, humble, quiet and kind man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He took care of the ones he loved without blinking an eye. He always loved to joke, cut up, and make people laugh. He could light up a room with his smile. He was a gentle giant and the strongest man in the world to his family who he loved dearly. He loved his family more than anything and his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Among his greatest blessings was the extraordinary love he shared with his wife, whose life together was defined by devotion, strength, and countless treasured moments. Together they built a life filled with compassion, joy, and unconditional love for one another. Words can’t describe the great man he was or the impact he has left on those that loved him.
He enjoyed the many years that he worked in the logwoods as a skidder operator with Leo Bowers and D&R Logging. He loved FSU and Alabama Football and rarely missed a game. He also loved to cook for his family, especially his fried ribs. One of his favorite things to do was to listen to old country music, bluegrass, old gospel and 50’s-60’s rock and roll.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Cassie Johns, mother, Estelle Simmons, father, William (Bill) Campbell, son, Aubrey Campbell, granddaughter, Aubrey Lane Campbell, sister, Ellen McDougald, mother-in-law, Annie Laura Fannin Smith, and father-in-law, Barney Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Becky Campbell, his son, Waylon Campbell, daughters, Mae Campbell (Adam), and Amanda Alford (Danny), six grandchildren Malacie Dixson (Colton), Marissa Campbell, Ethan Alford (his main man), Kinsley Alford (his best buddy), Danielle Campbell, and Annaston Campbell, one great granddaughter Adalyn Dixson, one great grandson, Hunter Dixson, brother, John Simmons (Emily) and his spoiled companion cat, Tommy.
