Daniel Maurice Bodiford, age 87, passed away on December 26, 2024 at his home in DeFuniak Springs, Florida.  Dan was born June 20, 1937 to Numa (Underwood) and Homer Alcus Bodiford, Sr (Jack).

He was a graduate of Walton High School in 1955 and served the U.S. Navy as First Class E6 from 1956-1966. Dan had a distinguished career and retired as an Advisory Research Analyst from IBM. He and his wife, Lora, moved back to DeFuniak Springs in 1994.  Dan served as Walton County Clerk of the Court from 1996-2000.  He became a Shriner in 2005 and served as Potentate of the Hadji Shriners in Pensacola Florida in 2012.  He also served as Worshipful Master at Herman Lodge #108 Freeport, Florida.  In 2003, Dan and Lora bought the historic H & M Hotdog Stand to enable the iconic establishment to carry on after the original owners retired. They enjoyed 4 years of serving the community and this particular venture always remained dear to his heart.  Dan spent his later years lovingly caring for Lora after her health declined.  After her passing in September 2024, Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and had recently become a member of Freeport Presbyterian Church.

Dan is predeceased by his wife Lora Perry Bodiford; his parents, his brother Homer Bodiford and his son, Alan Bodiford.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Brock of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; step-daughter, Tina Andrews Raley of Apex NC; step-son Ricky Andrews (Brandi) of Middlesex NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Bodiford of Oakland, Florida; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Entombment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery with Military Honors by the United States Navy.
