Clayton Jerry Monroe Adkinson, age 73, passed away on July 12, 2022.

Clayton was born August 16, 1948 at Lakeside Hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Macom Monroe ("Junior") Adkinson, Jr. and Katie Inez Brannon Adkinson.  Clayton was a multi-sport athlete in high school, and maintained a life long passion for sports – notably his Florida State Seminoles.  After graduating University of Mississippi School of Law, he was admitted to practice law in both Mississippi and Florida.  During his 48 year legal career in Florida, Clayton proudly served as an Assistant State Attorney while maintaining a private practice where he was honored to serve as City Attorney for both the Cities of DeFuniak Springs and Freeport, and represented countless people and businesses, including Healthmark Regional Medical Center.  In 2006, he formed the Adkinson Law Firm with his son, Clay.

Clayton is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother, Rodney Adkinson.  Clayton is survived by his current wife Mary Susan Harvell Adkinson, and her children and grandchildren; his son from his first marriage, Clay Brown Adkinson and wife Lauren, along with beloved granddaughter Isabella Monroe Adkinson; brother Michael A. Adkinson, Sr and wife Patsy, and their children Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. and wife Erin, Shadler Adkinson and wife Hope, and Sommer Adkinson Adams and husband Marcus; sister Kay Adkinson Slay and her daughter Catherine Michelle Slay; and many cherished cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

Receiving of Friends will begin at 5:00 PM, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, with a Memorial Service in celebration of Clayton's life to follow beginning at 6:30 PM,  at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel.
