Ms. Charleen Nelson Crew, age ,69, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025. She was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, born at the Lakeside Hospital. She was born to Dalton and Ila Nelson.
Charleen was a loving mother, of five sons, Tommy, Reggie, Ricky, Michael and Cody. Here door was always open to anyone. She loved for you to come by and loved drinking her coffee (Muck). She always made you feel like family, her door was always open. Many knew her as Mamma Dale. She was very giving and had a heart of gold. She was always putting everyone before herself. You always knew she would welcome you in her home or to sit outside on her porch talking. She was loved by many and she loved everyone.
Charleen was preceded in death by her parents; Dalton and Ila Nelson, son, Michael Spence and granddaughter, McKenzie Ann Clark Spence, siblings, Ronnie Nelson, Mottie Nelson, Roger Nelson and Hattie Curry.
Charleen is survived by her sons, Tommy Spence, Reggie Spence, Ricky Spence and wife Natasha and Cody Crew, her grandchildren, Addison Spence, Lyla Spence, Cindy Crew, Dalton Crew, Rickie Dell Spence, River Crew, Emmanuel Spence, Jeremy Lane Spence, Alania Spence, Jadah Heckingar and Trenton Heckinger, her husband John Crew, also survived by Russ Martin, who dedicated the last three years of his life with her. Charleen had many siblings being born into a huge family of fourteen siblings, Randy Nelson, Diane Hall, Effie Hall, Elaine Taylor, Linda Dion, Lou Nelson, Dudley Nelson, Wayne Nelson, Crystal Nelson and Doris Ammons. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, many loved ones and friends. She will be missed by many.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with Reverends Michael Tadlock and Joel Glenn officiating.
Flowers are being accepted.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Spence, Reggie Spence, Ricky Spence, Cody Crew, Russ Martin, and James Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Nelson and Ben Hall.
Burial will be held at Harmony Fellowship Church Cemetery.
