Mrs. Catherine Sherman, age 65, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011. She was born March 11, 1946 in Henry County, Alabama to Tommy and Catherine Robinson Strickland. Mrs. Sherman was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She worked as a manager in the Apartment Industry for many years, she enjoyed shopping and reading. Mrs. Sherman is preceded in death by her father, her husband Jerry Wayne Sherman and one brother Andy Avant. Mrs. Sherman is survived by her mother Catherine Carpenter of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, son Kenneth R. Sanders and wife Stephanie of Winston, Georgia, daughter Heather Gilliland of Mauldin, South Carolina, brother Thomas Strickland and wife Linda of Tampa, Florida, sister Daphne Hughes and husband Glenn of Phenix City, Alabama, step-mother Merium Strickland of Phenix City, Alabama, and two grandchildren Jordan Sanders and Ryleigh Gilliland. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday , June 12, 2011 at Westside Baptist Church , with Reverend Eddie James officiating. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Westside Baptist Church Building Fund at PO Box 276, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
