Obituary

Carris Lee Fordham, Jr., known to his loved ones as "C.L." or Lee, passed away on January 12, 2024, in DeFuniak Springs, FL, at the age of 84. He was born on August 15, 1939, in Laurens County, Georgia.

Lee was an ambitious and funny individual who possessed a loving nature and unwavering integrity. He was always determined to achieve his goals and had a great sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him.

In his career, Lee began as a young police officer in Sarasota before rising to the position of Assistant General Counsel to Governor Rubin Askew. He also served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 2nd and 20th Judicial Circuits, as well as Senior Attorney for the Florida Public Service Commission. His dedication and legal expertise left a lasting impact on the communities he served.

Lee received his education from Sarasota High School and went on to attend Florida State University, and then pursued his passion for law at the Florida State University - College of Law.

Outside of his professional life, Lee cherished his time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Della Fordham, and his children: Carla Lea Fordham (William) Moller, Mark Scott Fordham, and Debra Marie Fordham. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Kimberly Elizabeth Kimberl (Rick) Kirby, William "Billy" Calhoun Kimberl IV, and Darin Thomas (Polani) Kimberl. Lee will be deeply missed by his siblings: Jack Carl (Pat) Fordham, Donna Faye Fordham, and Dennie Ray (America) Fordham. He leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Carris Lee Fordham Sr. and Edna Harriet Trowell Fordham, as well as his siblings: Parker Summerlin, Betty Sue Fordham, and Nettie Lee "Bonnie" Fordham. He was also preceded in death by his spouses, Sandra Jean Morgan Fordham and Carole Jeanne Hobbs Fordham.

Lee found solace and strength in his faith and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His spiritual journey brought him comfort and guided him throughout his life.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in DeFuniak Springs. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
