Mrs. Brenda Simmons, age 64, passed away February 9, 2010. She was born July 2, 1945 in Oakridge, Tennessee to George and Zeddie Courtney McIntosh. Mrs. Simmons lived most of her life in Walton County. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as Big Mamma. She was elected and served on the Northwest Florida Soil & Water Conservation District Board. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading. Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her father, her husband Butch Simmons, two brothers Daniel McIntosh and Joseph McIntosh. Mrs. Simmons is survived by her mother Zeddie McIntosh of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, son Billy and Debra Simmons of Phoenix, New York, three daughters Donna and Mike Peters of Crestview, Florida, Missy and Jason Cobb of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Patty and Chad Nelson of Darlington, Florida, one brother David McIntosh of Molino, Florida, one sister-in-law Brenda Earl of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, 8 grandchildren Galen Peters, Gilli Peters, Maddie Drake, Allie Drake, Nathan Cobb, Jacob Cobb, Dawson Nelson and Kason Nelson. A time of visitation will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with Reverend Johnmark Brown officiating. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Friendship Baptist Church at 2415 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433. Pallbearers will be Troy Poole, Mikel Campbell, John Earl, Chris McIntosh, Allen McIntosh and Terry Joe Morrison. Burial will be held in Gum Creek Cemetery.
