Billy G.
Mowell
December 27, 1933 – July 22, 2024
Mr. Billy G. Mowell, age 90, of Graceville, Florida passed away July 22, 2024.
Billy was born in Ridgeway, Texas on December 27, 1933 to W.O. and Oma Oakley Mowell. He moved to Dallas when he was 18. Billy retired from Proctor and Gamble as an electrician, serviced in the United States Air Force as a radar control specialist during the Korean Conflict, and was the lead guitarist in the Lone Star Express for 40 years. Billy also played guitar at the Panhandle Opry for a year and in the Leonia Baptist Church. He was an active volunteer in his church and community until his illness prevented it. He loved working in Bible school, taught Sunday school, kept the nursery, and always kept a good message on the church sign. Billy was always willing to help someone in need. He had a sweet giving spirit, a man of few words but many kind deeds.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Moris Mowell; his second wife, Juanita Wooten Bartlett Mowell; a son, Russell Mowell; two stepsons, Dewayne and Ronald Bartlett; a granddaughter, Brittany Mowell; a sister, Polly Owens; and a brother Robert (Rob) Mowell.
Billy is survived by his sons, Richard Mowell and James Mowell, his brothers and sisters, James D. and Sylvia Mowell, Fern White, June Robinson, Don and Antje Mowell, and sister-in-law Virginia Mowell. He is also survived by cousins Dan and Linda Trotman, many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
The family offers their sincere appreciation to all staff of Graceville Health Center of Graceville for the excellent care given to Billy.
