Obituary

Mr. Billy Chester Carroll, Sr.  age 90, passed away February 10, 2022.  He was born on December 2,1931, in Darlington, Florida to James Ed Carroll and Hattie Scott Carroll.

Mr. Carroll was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He was a Baptist by faith and a member of Southwide Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era, serving his country in the United States Army. He received  many awards and decorations, for his  service that was above and beyond his call of duty. He served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years retiring as a Sergeant First Class. He worked in Electrical Contracting. He enjoyed making guitars. He also enjoyed singing and playing his quitar at the nursing home.

Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mildred Carroll of 46 years, brothers and sisters, Dallas Carroll, Millie Carroll, James Carroll and Dearon Carroll.

Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife, Betty Carroll of 23 years of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; children, Sidney Carroll and wife Renee of Crestview, Florida, Billy Carroll, Jr.  and wife Freda of  Milton, and Sheila Balkom and husband Pete of Bonifay, Florida; step-children,  Pamela Brock and husband Donnie, Wanda Owens and husband Carl, Brenda Rudd, Debra Kent and husband Joey, Newton Rudd and wife Malisswa and Dennis Rudd and wife Carol; three sisters, Myrtle  Carroll, Mallie  Carroll, Peggy Carroll and one  brother,  Doug Carroll;  nine grandchildren, Ryan Carroll, Lindsay Slay and husband Scott, Ashley Green and husband Markus, Adam Carroll and wife Tonya, Alex Carroll, Josh Balkom, Holly Folds and husband Kyle, Courtney Durham and Samantha Garner and husband Zac, thirteen great grandchildren, Jack, Weston, Drew, Anna, Carson, Issac, Bryson, Alli, Karstyn, Darbi, Kamden, Nolan, Ramzi, and Grey, and  twenty-one step grandchildren and thirty-four step great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 14, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Doug Hogg officiating.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Wounded Warrior at 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300 Jacksonville, Florida 32256

Pallbearers will be Ryan Carroll, Josh Balkom, Adam Carroll, Alex Carroll, Bryson Winingar and Kyle Folds.

Burial will be held at Caney Creek Cemetery, with Military Honors by the United States Army.
