Nelson Crim
January 24, 1936 – July 26, 2022
Mrs. Betty Crim, age 86, passed away July 26, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born on January 24,1936 in a log cabin in the Alaqua community, to Joe and Grace Nelson
Mrs. Crim was a lifetime resident of Walton County, was Baptist by faith, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Crim spent the majority of her "employed" life as Supply Clerk in the Civil Service for 35 years on Eglin AFB. However, in 1991 Mrs. Crim "retired" from the Civil Service when her first grandchild arrived, and "Nannie" became her new job title. The life of "Nannie" after retirement involved being active in grandchildren's various activities, being a member of Eastern Star of Florida Grand Chapter 115 in DeFuniak Springs, being a member of TOPS and holding many positions at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed volunteering at the elementary schools where her daughters taught, helping with scrapbooking, she was known as the scrapbook lady. She enjoyed working with students in reading and art. She was also a school bus aid and lunchroom worker at Maude Saunders Elementary School.
Mrs. Crim was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband of 49 years Don Crim; sisters Cora Lee Mitchem and Lillian Mitchem; brothers Clary Nelson, Kenny Nelson and Howard Nelson and daughter Donna Kaye Floyd and son in law Rusty Floyd.
Mrs. Crim is survived by her daughter Michelle Crim Willcox and husband Billy Ray Willcox of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; grandchildren Kelby Willcox of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Joseph Floyd and fiancé Savanah Dailey of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Kaydee Willcox Laird and husband Taylor of Calera, Alabama; great grandchildren Sawyer Willcox, Kamryn Willcox and Brynci Laird.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Friday, July 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Woodlawn ; 95 Cedar Dr, Defuniak Springs, FL 32435
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday July 29, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Woodlawn, with Reverend David Lain and Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.
Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made to Florida Baptist Children's Home: 1000 Chemstrand Rd, Cantonment, FL 32533.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Cosson, Doug Cosson, Jim Cosson, Ronnie Gainey, Donnie Bengston and Greg Rhodes
Burial will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery;1015 Pleasant Ridge Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435
