Betty was born May 9, 1942 in Ponce de Leon, Florida to Qualton and Mildred Commander. Betty was also known as Yvonne or P nut to family and friends it started in the restaurant business in her early 20's. She is best known for Rick's Café and as restaurant manager and cook for Best Western for over 30 years before she finally retired at the age of 74. She was also a beautiful person and well loved. She would help anyone who needed it. She loved keeping her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed and doing jig saw puzzles on her tablet

Ms. Burnes is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eddie Burnes; one daughter, Tammie Burnes; one granddaughter, Ashley Burnes; three brothers, Oliver Commander, Eugene Commander and Marion Commander; two sisters, Wilene Thomas and Juanita Moore; one stepson, Ricky Burnes and a special companion Don Squires.

Ms. Burnes is survived by her daughter, Pam Burnes (Danny Michels); four grandchildren, Amber (Tray), Tamra (Nathan), Tory and Steven and 14 great grandchildren who loved their "mawmaw" more than anything. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; with Derek Glenn officiating.

Flowers are being accepted.

Pallbearers will be Tray Williams, Nathan Coon, Isaak Royce, R.J Coon, Danny Michels and Craig Harvell

Burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.
