Fazenbaker
May 24, 1934 – July 23, 2022
Austin Fazenbaker, 88 years old of DeFuniak Springs, FL., passed away; Saturday, July 23, 2022, in his home with family and friends gathered around him.
Mr. Fazenbaker was born in Confluence, PA. to Victoria (Fike) Fazenbaker and Austin Snyder.
Faze attended grade school in Dumas, Pa. and Turkey Foot High School in Confluence, PA. He graduated in 1953. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Army serving more than 25 years. He completed basic training in Camp Picket, Va. He then proceeded to Morse Code Intercept training from December 53' to October of 54'. He was stationed in the following areas during his career with the armed forces: Ft. Devens, MA. Germany (Herzo Base) from 1954-1957, He was stationed in Two Rock Ranch in Petaluma, Ca. from 1957-1961. He was in USASA 14 th Field Station in Southern Japan on the Inland from 1961-1965. 1965-1968 Ft. Daven, MA. 1968-1975 Ft. Daven, MA., 1972-1979 US Army Recruiting Commander in Pittsburgh, PA. 1978-1979 Boston Nursing Recruiting Command. He served in the Vietnam War and received the following recognition: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (1 st -8 th Awards), Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Golf Recruiter Badge, Driver Badge with Device. He retired from the United States Army after serving more than 25 years, in 1979. He then started working for the United States Postal Service until 2000 when he retired. Faze lived in Merrimack, NH from June of 2000 until May 2004 when he moved to DeFuniak Springs, FL. And purchased Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park which is now known as Faze's Acres.
Faze was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Fazenbaker, father, Austin Snyder, his brothers, Frank Fazenbaker, Lester Fazenbaker, Carl Fazenbaker, and Edward Fazenbaker, and his sisters, Eliza Metheny and Edith Bartholomew.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Joan Carroll-Fazenbaker; daughter Melissa Hattaway; son Terrell Carroll, Jr.; daughter-in-law Joyce Cooper; grandson Terrell Carroll, III; great-grandson Tobias Zeller; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tom Phillips officiating.
Flowers are being accepted (green plants requested) or donations may be made to the Alaqua Animal Refuge at alaqua.org.
