Andrew Glenn
Schaefer, Sr.
June 6, 1951 – October 3, 2025
Mr. Andrew Glenn Schaefer, Sr., age 74, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away Friday, October 3rd, 2025 at home in the arms of his wife.
Andy was born June 6, 1951 in Elkridge, Maryland, son of Edmund Oswald (Bud/E.O) Schaefer, and Jane Elizabeth Glenn Schaefer. He was blessed in marriage to Brittany Ayla Grant Schaefer on December 21, 2022 and together they built a beautiful and loving home with two doggies, a multitude of barn cats and various other critters.
Anyone who knew Andy knew of his passion for motor vehicles—or rather anything that could go really fast. This passion led him to build a thriving auto mechanic business, but his heart was always at the racetrack, planning for his next race. He earned a reputation as one of the fiercest and most determined drivers in the Southeast, and for these traits he was fun to watch.
Andy demonstrated pride in everything he did, whether it was keeping an immaculate automotive shop, keeping a promise, tending to his many four legged critters, or loving his wife with his whole heart. The best way to sum up Andy's life was to say he lived a mixture of the Dukes of Hazard and Smokey and the Bandit—if you know, you know.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Jane Schaefer; and brother, David Schaefer; all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; and his nephew, Matthew Schaefer, of Moonville, South Carolina.
Andy is survived by his loving wife, Brittany of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; his son, Ando Schaefer of Pensacola, Florida; his brother, Buddy Schaefer and wife, Glenda, of Simpsonville, South Carolina; and his niece, Deborah Schaefer and her beloved children, Freya and Xander, of London, England; and his dearest friend of over 55 years, Patsy Register, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
Andy had a mischievous and playful spirit that endeared him to everyone who knew him. He loved life and lived his to the fullest, right up until his last breath.
A private family burial will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.
Floral arrangements are being accepted at the family home.
